Is It Hot in Here, or Is Everybody Lying
What if we’ve completely misunderstood the reason it’s getting so hot? Growing up, you told one lie—you lied. Tell two, and you were becoming a liar. And everybody knew what happened next: liar, liar, pants on fire. So maybe today’s heat wave has a perfectly reasonable, completely unscientific explanation: there are simply too many pants on fire. Funny? Absolutely. But underneath the joke is a question worth asking: When did we become so comfortable with lying that we stopped calling a lie a lie?
