Crisis Doesn’t Keep Office Hours
Crisis does not wait for business hours.
Yet many of the systems designed to help people are only accessible Monday through Friday, from 8 to 5 – closed on weekends, evenings, and holidays. But pain, loneliness, addiction, homelessness, mental health struggles, and even moments of breakthrough happen at every hour of the day and night.
What happens when someone is finally ready to ask for help… but the door is closed?
If we truly believe in a continuum of care, then perhaps it is time to rethink whether support should only exist during traditional schedules – because human struggle has never followed a clock.
